FAQ

FAQ.

01How does an athlete get sponsors?

Start by understanding what you can offer: your values, audience, channels and story. List companies that reach the same audience and share values that suit you. Create a clear offer that sets out what the company gets in return. Brons Sports carries out a current-situation analysis, sets a plan with goals, and represents you to the right companies so the partnership is long-term and credible.

02How do you approach companies for sponsorship?

Contact a named individual – often the marketing manager or CEO at a smaller company – with a short, personal proposal. Describe who you are, which audience you reach, why their brand is a good fit, and concretely what they get: content, exposure, events or ambassador days. Follow up after a week or so. With an agent, the contact is handled by someone who already has a network of companies.

03What do companies want in return from a sponsored athlete?

Companies want to reach their goals: visibility with the right audience, content for their channels, credibility, customer events and employee engagement. They also want to see that the athlete shares their values and is reliable over time. The more clearly you can demonstrate and follow up on what the partnership delivers, the greater the chance of renewal.

04How much can an athlete charge for sponsorship?

It depends on your fame, reach, results, audience, the deliverables included and how exclusive the agreement is. A deal can consist of cash, products or a combination. Value what the company actually gets – content, days, exposure – and compare it with what it would cost them through other channels. Brons Sports negotiates so the deal is on the right terms.

05How does commission work for a sports agent?

A sports agent or management company usually takes a commission on the commercial deals they negotiate, with terms set out in a representation agreement. Read the agreement carefully: what the commission applies to, the term, termination and which services are included. Contact Brons Sports to hear how we would structure a partnership with you.

06What should an athlete's sponsorship agreement include?

The term, fee and payment schedule, the deliverables you must provide (posts, days, events), how the company can use your name and image, exclusivity against competitors, what happens in the event of injury or a break, renewal and termination. Make sure the requirements fit alongside training, competing and any federation or team agreements.

07Does an athlete need a large following to get sponsors?

No. Follower count is just one of several factors. Companies also look at engagement, audience, local roots, personality, story and how well you fit their values. A locally rooted athlete with an engaged audience can be more valuable to a regional company than a profile with large but broad reach.

08How do you build a personal brand as an athlete?

Start from your own values and what you want to stand for. Share your journey – not just your results – and keep a consistent tone and content across your channels. Show who you are beyond competition. Brons Sports helps you develop a personal brand and identity based on your values, with content that builds an engaged following.

09What does a management company do for an elite athlete?

A management company handles the commercial side of sport so the athlete can focus on performing. At Brons Sports this includes personal brand, sponsorship and negotiation, activation, social media, PR, administration such as travel and bookings, and follow-up on every partnership and commitment.

10When does an athlete need an agent or manager?

When the commercial side starts taking time away from training, when companies get in touch and you're unsure about the terms, or when you want to build a long-term plan for sponsors and brand. It's also the right time when agreements become larger and more complex. An agent brings a network, negotiation experience and structure.
